VIDEO: Dairy Kefir In Just Minutes a Day!!

“I’m going to show you how you can have dairy kefir in just minutes a day, every day. This was my first video like this, so I forgot to mention a couple things (I was so nervous, LOL). First off, if you’re allergic to dairy, you can substitute coconut milk in place of dairy milk. I’ve done this & it works well. Also, I wanted to mention that you can use a paper towel; cloth napkin; scrap of fabric or cheesecloth to cover your jar. You want it capped with something for airflow. If you’re using a re-purposed salsa jar or pickle jar and a canning lid doesn’t fit, you can use a rubber band. Also, since this was my first video, I had TWO cameras running. I was looking mostly at the one I *thought* would be better quality. I was wrong, but I know better for next time 😀 Hope you enjoy my first “real” instructional video.”

    My kefir clots up like cottage cheese. It smells good and tastes great but what am I doing wrong that yours is liquid (my kids hate the clotty texture) and my clumps?

    Way to go!! Your grains looks so good~mine are still pretty small. I guess the more I use them the larger they will become? Well, now I’m off to make some kefir! 🙂

    Kim, they can become larger over time, but the main thing you want is reproduction (and of course, fermentation). I wouldn’t worry a lick about the size of them. 🙂
