How I Make My Water Kefir

I’ll be sharing my lavender lemongrass kefir recipe soon. SOOOOO good! We just finished our batch off tonight.

*I do buy white sugar, but only for my ferments. The ferments eat the sugar to grow themselves. By the time you consume your water kefir, the sugar is no longer in the liquid you drink. See KerryAnn’s post on this subject, too!

    I make water kefir with nearly the same proportions to yours, but I’ve never heard of adding raisins. Does that add more flavor or…?

    It adds flavour, but it also helps to feed the grains. I have a recipe somewhere for one that calls for raisins on the 2nd ferment to make it taste like Dr Pepper.

    Thanks for sharing your way of water kefir. I was afraid to leave it in the first ferment for more than 2 days because of the instructions that came with the grains.

    Water kefir grains are a “grain” or culture used to produce water kefir. Water kefir is a probiotic drink that contains beneficial bacteria & enzymes. It’s also great for those that want to get probiotics into their diet but can’t do it through yoghurt or dairy kefir due to allergy restraints.
