Lamp Updo

I’m so excited! I haven’t done a post like this in awhile! I have missed decorating on a dime. Shortly after we moved here, the holidays hit. Then the rain. For. 5. Months. I haven’t been able to get much accomplished & my poor cans of paint having been wasting away, collecting dust *le sigh*

A month & a half ago, we went to our local flea market. It’s held every Saturday in a parking lot. We love going & looking around, but we rarely buy much. Most of the stuff is over priced or we can just live without it. However a few months ago, the lamp on my desk died, and I’d been looking all that time for a new one. I didn’t want to buy a new one, because let’s face it- they don’t make’em like they used to. I’d seen a few at yard sales, thrift & the flea market, but as usual, they were over priced. Or…. they didn’t scream awesomeness.

Then I found this girl on one of the tables. I picked the dusty thing up & was looking at it when I heard “That’s just a dollar, & it works!”

So home she came with me. Dust, dirty lampshade & all…

I got her base painted fairly quickly, but had a few ideas for the lampshade. None of which were working out. So, I decided to stick with the woven ribbon look, since the holes were already there. I didn’t really want to buy another shade. First of all, we’re doing this on the cheap, but also… it just wouldn’t be MINE!

And here she is. In all of her BEAUTIFIED, shabby-chic glory! I love it. She lights up my desk just perfectly, matches the decor & is JUST LOVELY!! I spent less than $3 on the ribbon & buttons & still have over half of the ribbon left! SQUEEE!!!
